Here is where I will hopefully answer as many of your questions about gunkata as I can. If have a question that isn't answered here, please email me.

1.What is Gunkata?
Gunkata is a close quarters gun-based martial art. It emphasises kata, or body positioning and movement excercises. This is important because each kata of Gunkata is designed for maximum effeciency in both lethal force and defense. It is of course impossible to see an oncoming bullet and dodge it, but an advanced Gunkata practitioner, known as a Tetragrammaton Cleric or Grammaton Cleric, can put himself in the least statistically possible place to be hit at each moment of a gun fight. Gunkata is based on a scientific analysis of bullet trajectory and range based on the mathematical possible outcomes of a gunfight.

2.Is it real?
Unfortunately, no. The kata is real, that is what this site strives to teach, the movements of gunkata. It is pretty to watch, and fun to do. It may have some real-life applications, but we may never really get to know that.

3.Who came up with this cool idea?
Kurt Wimmer, writer and director of the Dimension motion picture, EQUILIBRIUM. He worked closely with Jim Vickers, Fight Choreographer for the movie, to develop the style and it's look. Jim is an expert martial artist in various forms and styles.

4.Where can I see it?
In the movie EQUILIBRIUM. It was released December 6th, 2002 in the United States to select cities.

5.What other styles of gunkata are there?
We can only base our assumptions from the film. Without spoiling it for those who haven't seen it, we see mostly two-handed handgun styles. We do see a Cleric operating two shotguns as well, and using the spiked handles of his handgun as a weapon. We also see a Cleric a few times in the film using an assault rifle with both hands. In addition, Clerics can disarm an opponent who has a gun, so there must be unarmed Gunkata styles. We also see a push-hands technique in which two opponents, each armed with a handgun try to get a clear shot at each other, but keep missing because their guns are being pushed aside.

6.What about the sword play?
Although we see Clerics in the film using swords, this site will deal only with the handgun aspect of gunkata.

7.What program did you use to create your 3d Cleric?
Poser 4.0.

8.How do I submit my fanfiction / art / movie?
Just email me or message me on AOL IM, my screen name is bboyneko.

9.How do I contact the owner of this site?
See question number 8.

10. I accidently shot myself in the foot, what should I do?
Stop trying to do gunkata with real guns moron. If you were using a paintball handgun, it's still going to hurt like a bitch though. Be Careful.

11. What is Equilibrium?
A motion picture released by Dimension Films on December 6th, 2002. It was written and directed by Kurt Wimmer. To learn more about Equilibrium, please visit the Equilibrium section.

12. What is that cool font you use?
It's called TecnoJap. You can download it here. (PC True Type Font file)

13. So like, who is the man behind this site?
I'm glad you asked. I'm Dan Ferro, 23, from Maryland. I am an aspiring actor myself, and work as a web designer. I have been breakdancing for 5 years now, and do a lot of free-hand art. Some Links:

Please don't try any of this with real guns. That would be dangerous and stupid. Remember, it's just a movie. You cannot dodge bullets in real life.
The owner of this site in no way encourages or endorses use of real hand guns in practising gunkata. Contact me via AOL IM, bboyneko or email me.
